A security questionnaire is holding up your deal

Sales has a spreadsheet full of security questions. Give the buyer answers your team can support, and separate missing evidence from missing controls.

01 / Blocker · the buyer's unanswered security question

Chapter 01

Find the question that's stopping the review.

The buyer asks whether production access is reviewed regularly. Sales thinks the answer is yes, but can't find the last review. Ask the buyer which questions block approval and who can clarify ambiguous wording. Start with those questions instead of polishing every cell equally.

Chapter 02

A confident answer still needs support.

Ask the person who runs the access review for the current process and its last completed record. If nobody performs it, mark the gap honestly. If it happened but the file is missing, investigate the evidence. Those problems need different work; neither is solved by making the answer sound more certain.

02 / Check · missing proof or missing practice?

Chapter 03

Review the evidence before you send the answer.

Use Sythe Labs evidence records to collect the review file and get an approver's decision. Your team writes and checks the questionnaire response against that material. For sensitive supporting documents, use the Trust Portal's reviewed access-request process. Uploading evidence doesn't generate a verified answer or permission to share every file.

03 / Response · a checked answer with appropriate supporting access

Chapter 04

Leave the unknowns visible.

Send the reviewed response and explain which questions still need work. Give each gap an owner and agree the next conversation with the buyer. A questionnaire doesn't automatically mean you need a SOC 2 examination or a pentest; ask whether either is an actual acceptance condition.

04 / Follow-up · explicit gaps instead of unsupported promises
